There are some moments in business where you have to stop for a minute and appreciate what has happened, even if you are normally the sort of person who is already thinking about the next project, the next client, the next idea or the next problem that needs solving. Finding out that DMalip has been named a winner of the 2026 SME Greater London Enterprise Awards was one of those moments for us, and although we are usually much more comfortable getting on with the work than talking about ourselves, this is something we are genuinely very proud of.
DMalip, a London-based digital marketing agency, has been named a winner of the 2026 SME Greater London Enterprise Awards, a recognition that means particularly much to us as a business founded in London in 2023. When you have spent the last few years building something from the ground up, trying to work out what you want it to become while navigating all the uncertainty that comes with running a growing business, having that work recognised by an independent organisation is something that feels genuinely special.
DMalip was founded in London in 2023 with a fairly simple idea, although one that we have found increasingly difficult to ignore as digital marketing, artificial intelligence and technology continue to change the way businesses communicate with their customers. We believed that marketing could become more sophisticated, more data-driven and more technologically advanced without becoming less personal, less creative or less human, and from the beginning we wanted to build a digital marketing business around that belief.
So, yes, we won an award, and yes, we are going to talk about it.
When we started DMalip in 2023, we were not interested in simply creating another digital marketing agency that looked and sounded like every other agency in the market. There are already plenty of companies offering SEO, paid advertising, social media, content, branding and digital strategy, and while all of those things are important, we felt there was something missing from the way digital marketing was often presented and delivered.
The digital marketing industry has become incredibly focused on technology, automation, data and optimisation, and there is a very good reason for that because these things can help businesses understand their customers better, make more informed decisions and achieve results that would have been much harder to achieve in the past. However, somewhere between dashboards, algorithms, artificial intelligence, automation platforms and endless discussions about performance metrics, it can become surprisingly easy to forget that marketing is ultimately about people.
There is a person searching for something on Google, a person reading a website, a person deciding whether to trust a business, a person scrolling through social media and deciding whether to stop, and a person eventually deciding whether they want to spend their money with a particular company.
That person matters.
This is one of the reasons we have always believed in a more human approach to digital marketing, because we do not think businesses should have to choose between being commercially successful and being authentic. We believe it is possible to have a serious marketing strategy that is based on data, technology and measurable results while still allowing a business to have a personality, a point of view and a genuine connection with the people it is trying to reach.
AI is not new to digital marketing, and it certainly did not suddenly appear in the industry over the last couple of years. Artificial intelligence and machine learning have been influencing the way marketers work for a long time, whether that has been through search algorithms, advertising platforms, recommendation systems, audience targeting, automation, data analysis or the many other technologies that have gradually become part of everyday digital marketing.
What has changed more recently is how visible AI has become and how quickly the technology is now developing, particularly with generative AI becoming accessible to businesses and marketers of all sizes. It has created an enormous amount of conversation about what marketing will look like in the future, what work will be automated, what content will be created by machines and, perhaps most importantly, what role people will have in all of it.
For us, the conversation has never really been about whether AI is good or bad, because technology itself is neither of those things. It is about how we choose to use it and whether, in our enthusiasm to make everything faster and more efficient, we risk taking away some of the things that make a business interesting in the first place.
We believe AI has a place in modern digital marketing, just as technology has always had a place in marketing, but we also believe that it should support the people behind a business rather than replace them. A tool can help you understand data, identify patterns, research ideas or make certain processes more efficient, but it does not automatically understand the personality of a business, the experiences that shaped it, the reason its founders started it or the relationships it has built with its customers.
That distinction matters to us because the most effective marketing is not always the marketing that can be produced the fastest. Sometimes the thing that makes a piece of content work is the opinion behind it, the story that comes from personal experience, the unusual way someone explains something or simply the fact that it sounds like it was written by a person who actually cares about what they are saying.
We don’t think the answer is to step away from technology, and we certainly don’t think businesses should ignore the opportunities. We think the answer is to use technology intelligently while making sure that the human part of the business remains visible, because no matter how much the tools change, marketing will always come back to one person trying to communicate with another.
It might sound obvious to say that people are at the centre of marketing, but when you spend enough time looking at the digital industry, it is surprisingly easy to lose sight of that fact.
We talk about impressions, clicks, conversion rates, rankings, engagement, traffic, acquisition costs and return on investment, and all of these measurements are important because businesses need to understand whether their marketing is actually working. However, behind every one of those numbers is a person making a decision, whether that decision is to click on an advert, read an article, follow a company, fill in a contact form or ultimately become a customer.
That is why we believe good digital marketing needs both sides of the equation.
It needs the data because without data we are often just guessing, and it needs the technology because modern businesses have access to tools that can make marketing significantly more effective. But it also needs creativity, understanding, empathy and a genuine appreciation of the people a business is trying to reach.
At DMalip, we call this human-to-human marketing, and while it may sound like a simple idea, it has become an important part of how we think about our work.
We do not believe people want to be marketed at all the time; we believe they want to understand who they are dealing with, why they should care, what makes a particular business different and whether they can trust the people behind it.
That does not mean every piece of marketing needs to be emotional or informal, and it certainly does not mean that strategy and commercial objectives should be forgotten. It simply means that we should never forget who the strategy is ultimately designed for.
Being recognised by the SME Greater London Enterprise Awards is a wonderful achievement for DMalip, but perhaps the most valuable thing about it is the opportunity it gives us to reflect on the journey so far.
We founded the company in 2023, which means we are still relatively young, and there is still an enormous amount that we want to learn, build and achieve. The business we have today is not exactly the business we imagined when we first started, and we are sure that the business we have a few years from now will look different again, because building a company is an ongoing process rather than something where you eventually arrive at a finished version.
There have been exciting moments, difficult moments, unexpected opportunities, challanges, successes and plenty of occasions where we have had to figure things out as we went along. There have also been people who believed in us before there was any particular reason for them to do so, and those people have played a much bigger role in our journey than any award ever could.
That is why we see this recognition as something shared.
It belongs to the clients who have trusted us with their businesses and allowed us to become part of their growth journeys, to the partners and collaborators who have helped us bring ideas to life, to the people who have recommended DMalip to someone else, and to everyone who has supported what we are trying to build.
Most importantly, it belongs to our team, because behind every piece of work, every strategy, every campaign and every client relationship are real people who care about what they do and who bring their own experience, ideas and personalities to the business.
They are, quite literally, the humans behind DMalip.
It would be easy to look at an award like this as an ending, particularly when awards are often presented as milestones that suggest a company has somehow reached a point where it can stop and celebrate its success.
For us, it feels much more like a moment in the middle of the journey.
We are proud of what we have achieved, and we are absolutely going to enjoy celebrating it, but we also know that there is still a huge amount we want to do. Digital marketing is changing constantly, artificial intelligence is accelerating that change, search behaviour is evolving, social platforms are changing the way people discover businesses, and customers are becoming increasingly selective about the companies they choose to give their attention and money to.
We will have to keep learning, experimenting and adapting, and there will undoubtedly be things we get wrong along the way, because that is simply part of building something rather than standing still.
What we do not want to lose as everything around us changes is the reason DMalip exists in the first place.
We still believe that businesses should be able to grow without losing their individuality, that technology should make marketing more powerful rather than more impersonal, and that the best digital marketing is not necessarily the marketing that looks the most polished or follows the latest trend, but the marketing that understands the business, understands its customers and communicates something genuine.
So, yes, we will put the award logo on the website.
We will probably talk about it a little more than we normally talk about ourselves, and we might even allow ourselves to be slightly proud for a while.
But then we will get back to work, because this award is not the reason we started DMalip and it is certainly not where we want the story to end.
It is simply a really nice reminder that what we are trying to build matters, and that there is still space in an increasingly automated digital world for businesses that want to communicate with people rather than simply target them.
A huge thank you to SME News for recognising DMalip as a winner of the 2026 SME Greater London Enterprise Awards, and an even bigger thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey so far.
We are proud, we are grateful, and we are looking forward to seeing where this goes next.
Because while technology will continue to change the way marketing works, one thing will remain at the centre of everything we do.
Human-to-human. Always.
Created by imperfectly perfect humans.
